Studio Policy

Annual registration fee due upon registration & will secure the students’ spot for September. Cheque, e-transfer, cash or credit card is acceptable.
Registration fees cover: the Tonara practice app subscription, supersonics piano subscription, books, supplementary music, recital fee and annual Aria Music Studio magazine.
Piano tuition fees are equalized and pre-paid over 10 months, or bi-annually (Sept./Feb.) or annually September or July (with a discount).
Tuition may be received by post-dated cheque, e-transfer (bi-annual or annual payment only) or credit card and is due on the first of the month.
Late payments will result in a 2% late fee.
If paying by cheque, please plan to have ALL cheques handed in at the start of the year (September), failure to do so will result in having to continue payments online instead.
If paying with a credit card - please make sure your info is updated on the student portal (ariamusicstudio.ca - see homepage to log in or create an account).
Tuition fees are based on enrolment, not attendance. There are no make-up classes for missed lessons. Tutorials can be available upon request but may be subject to a small fee.

Please do not have your child attend class if they are experiencing nausea, vomiting, fever or cough, or have been exposed to someone with Covid-19.
Students must wash hands or sanitize before & after lessons.
Please arrive on-time and be picked up on-time.
It is not encouraged to bring siblings to lessons but if there is a need, siblings who are independent can sit in the waiting area with a quiet activity.
In the event that your child will be absent from a class, please leave a message on the Tonara app, email or call as a courtesy to Mrs. Andrea with as much notice as possible.
There are no refunds or make-up lessons for missed classes.
If Mrs. Andrea cancels or misses a lesson, it will be credited or made up at a mutually agreed time.
If a student has missed 2 or more consecutive classes, a tutorial will be scheduled with a rate determined by the teacher.

No food or eating in the studio.
Cell phone usage during class is discouraged unless used for emergency or for the lesson when needed.
Please bring all your own writing and colouring instruments.
MYC students please bring your own tin sheet, magnets, rhythm bags & castanet.
Parking is only available on one side of the road & two cars should fit the driveway (please be considerate).
When parking on the driveway, please do not block the side walk or you may be ticketed.

In the event that the studio must close due to public safety reasons or inclement weather we will resume lessons online via zoom.

A well-tuned instrument is needed for consistent daily practice. (Weighted-keys & full sized 88 keys are desirable).
Focused daily practice at least 5 days a week is needed to progress and continue to the next level.
Students should arrive well-prepared for each lesson, having made progress through the suggested practice routine and all parts of the assignment completed.
A quiet atmosphere away from family distractions help to ensure quality practice time.

Eight weeks’ notice is required to withdraw from the class or tuition in lieu of.
The teacher reserves the right to dismiss a student from the studio if any of the following situations persist after notification (by a phone call or letter) and time provided to correct the problem.
- Inadequate practice time or goals not met on a consistent basis
- Lack of interest/ uncooperative attitude during lessons
- Excessive absences
- Failure to pay tuition
Studio policy may be subject to change at any given time.
